Things to Do Around Monroe

Here's looking ahead to what is going on in the area this weekend:

~ Blackhawk Technical College hosts an Educational Open House on Thursday from 4 until 6:30 pm. Tour the campus, sign up for classes, take a free mini-course, register for door prizes and enjoy the refreshments.

~ Go Big Red! UW Alumni, come out to Toffler's in New Glarus on Thursday for UW Alumni Happy Hour from 6 until 8 pm.

~ Bargain hunters, come over to Monroe this Saturday for Citywide Garage Sale Day.

~ Winslow has their annual River Days community celebration this weekend. There will be community food and beer tents, music, inner tube races, tug of war, pony rides, a petting zoo and more.

~ Enjoy live music this weekend. Baumgartner's hosts Richard Wiegel on string guitar on Saturday evening. Toffler's hosts The Rowdy Prairie Dogs also on Saturday. The Greg Anderson Band plays at the New Glarus Hotel on both Friday and Saturday.

~ If you prefer to participate in the music making, Gap Church by Albany is having an Old Fashioned Hymn Sing on Sunday.

~ This Saturday is the Freeport Fusion Festival in Freeport at the Skate Park. From noon until 6, enjoy the skateboard competition, music and more.

~ Plan ahead for next week's concert on the Square in Monroe. Jefferson County Bluegrass plays on the stage on the south side of the Square starting at 6:30 pm. Bring a dinner or pick up a boxed supper, and don't forget to support the Humane Society Beer Tent.
